These standards have been established in order to prevent the transmission of respiratory and other pathogens to health care workers. It is necessary to review these standards against existing practices and make changes as required.

Management of high-risk aerosol producing procedures (outbreak conditions)

  • In order to prevent the transmission of respiratory and other pathogens to health care workers present for respiratory procedures that generate droplets and aerosols, the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care directs all health care facilities to undertake the procedures described herein during outbreak conditions.

Management of high-risk aerosol producing procedures (non-outbreak conditions)

  • These standards have been established in order to prevent the transmission of respiratory and other pathogens to health care workers during any respiratory procedures that generate droplets and aerosols. Health care providers will need to review these standards against existing practices and make changes as required.

Non-outbreak patient transfer form

  • This form must be completed before patient transfers may be authorized.
